Welcome to Janardhana Maharshi's World

Janardhana Maharshi is a distinguished Indian screenwriter, poet, author, producer, novelist, lyricist, and film director, primarily associated with Telugu and Kannada cinema. Born on May 16 in Kandukuru, Prakasam district, Andhra Pradesh, he completed his education in Chittoor. His early passion for literature and theater led him to act in and write stage plays during his college years, with his poems and stories published in notable weekly magazines.

 

In 1989, Maharshi began his cinematic journey as a script assistant to Tanikella Bharani, transitioning to an independent writer by 1993. He gained prominence with successful films like "One by Two," "Aunty," and "Pekata Papa Rao," each celebrating 100-day runs in theaters. His collaborations with directors such as E.V.V. Satyanarayana, S.V. Krishna Reddy, T. S. B. K. Moulee and Siva Nageswara Rao further solidified his reputation.

 

Expanding his horizons, Maharshi ventured into the Kannada film industry in 2004, delivering hits like "Aakash," "Arasu," "Dattha," "Meravanige," and "Kannadadda Kiran Bedi." Throughout his prolific career, he has contributed to over 100 Telugu films and 15 Kannada films. Notably, he penned dialogues for the National Award-winning film "Eega" in 2012.

 

As a director, Maharshi's films "Devasthanam" (2012) and "Viswadarshanam" (2020) have been showcased at numerous international film festivals, earning critical acclaim

 

Beyond cinema, Maharshi is an accomplished writer with several publications, including:

  • "Vennamuddalu" (2003): A collection of short poems that has seen 12 editions since its release, reflecting its popularity in modern Telugu literature.

  • "Garbhagudiloki" (2004, 2021): A novel that delves into philosophical themes, blending storytelling with deep reflections.

  • "Chidambara Rahasyam" (2019): A collection of stories that explore profound human emotions and experiences.

  • "Smasananiki Vyragyam" (2021): A compilation of narratives that offer insights into life's transient nature.

     

His literary works are characterized by their depth and philosophical insights, garnering widespread appreciation and multiple editions.

 

In a pioneering move, Maharshi ventured into Sanskrit-language filmmaking with the creation of "Sloka." This film narrates the poignant journey of a woman coping with profound personal losses, seeking solace in a graveyard, and embarking on a path of self-discovery.

 

Janardhana Maharshi's enduring contributions to literature, cinema and Sanskrit films will leave an indelible mark on Indian arts and culture.
